Would you be an audio engineer if we still used tape?

Think the market is flooded with "sound engineers" and its hard to find work? Ever worked with a "sound engineer" and realized they aren't very knowledgeable and really don't care for the art? Has the technology made it too easy for anyone to get into this field?
Saw a great movie this weekend that touched on just that. I recommend watching PressPausePlay. This documentary asks the question:
"Does democratized culture mean better art, film, music and literature or is true talent instead flooded and drowned in the vast digital ocean of mass culture? Is it cultural democracy or mediocrity"
Great film, great question. Enjoy!
