3/30/15 Tidal Launch:
The launch of the streaming service Tidal was met with mixed reviews. I thought the press conference was awkward (apparently others did too). One thing did come to mind when I was watching it though; the Designated Survivor. You know the procedure that the US government has so if there was an attack at a function where the President, Vice President and Speaker of the House are all attending someone is always held back as Designator Survivor so that if all should parish, the Designated Survivor would be able to run the Country. With all the major players of the music industry in one place including: Jay Z, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Jack White, J Cole, Daft Punk, Madonna, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Deadmau5, Jason Aldean, Usher, and Arcade Fire - who was the Designated Survivor to keep the music industry going should there have been an attack on the press conference? Did they think about this? ...it was Taylor Swift wasn't it?! I bet it was!! That was their designated survivor. The fate of the music industry would have been in Tay Swift's hands....OR less popular artist would have taken over the music industry and received more albums sales!
Alabama Shakes album out TODAY. But I digress (I do that a lot) So Tidal is a streaming service that you can stream high quality music for $20/month....here is a link to my free, public Spotify playlist you can listen to while you sign up for Tidal.

4/2/15 Amy Winehouse Documentary:
The first trailer for the upcoming Amy Winehouse documentary was released and will make you tear up a little. The movie comes out in theaters in the UK in July. Hopefully soon to follow with a digital release for the rest of us. Will be keeping my eye on this one, would love to see this. Amy Winehouse was an amazing singer.
4/6/15 Book of Yeezus:
Three guys decided to take the Bible, more specifically the Book of Genesis and replace every mention of God with Kanye. This book is deplorable and disrespectful to say the least.
4/7/15 Sonic Highways:
For my fellow non-cable having music lovers, the entire Sonic Highways series is available for purchase for $20 and worth the buy! Now I can actually talk to people about the show when they ask if I've seen it.
4/10/15 Coachella:
So Coachella happened, I was not there :( One big story to come out of it was the incident with Drake and Madonna. Madonna kissed Drake and at first it looks like he likes it, then afterward he looks like he wants to throw up. The video has been pulled from most sites but the pictures are still out :)
Rat Sound posted pictures from Coachella on their FB page that the audio pro would appreciate. Check it out HERE.
4/14/15 Percy Sledge:
The "When a Man Loves a Woman" singer passed away on April 14th. He made an impact on the music industry with his music and will be missed.

4/15/15 Yamaha TF Series Consoles:
Yamaha announced the new TF series consoles at ProLight + Sound. Their new small to mid size console is in the same class with the popular X32 and Studio Live consoles. I am Yamaha user so if I were to purchase a smaller console I would definitely keep it in the family and go this route. I have used Yamaha boards daily for the past 8 years and they just work. No issues, they just work. Check out this video:
It makes me want one. Not just because the console looks awesome but the guy doing the video with his accent and nicely manicured (but manly!) hands also makes me want one. Do they teach product reps how to use their hands when at trade shows? They do that hand thing, like Vanna White...you know what I mean?
