From Around the Web | June Edition
(Originally posted June 25, 2015)
From Around the Web is a blog post series that is a collection of music and audio related findings from ..Around the Web <--- get it? :) Anyway, hope you like it.
May & June were nuts, busy times. Why is it as you get older, time seems to go by faster? Anyway here is some of the stories of interest from around the web this month:
6/8/15 Apple Streaming Service
Apple jumped into the streaming music world offering their Apple Music service with plans starting at $9.99. There is a 3 month trial period coming to Iphone, Ipad, Ipod touch & Mac or PC on June 30th. Android and Apple TV are coming this fall. The music industry has changed, no more are the days of (for my generation) seeing a music video on MTV or reading about an artist's new album in a magazine then going to Specs or some other music store and buying the cassette or CD. Oh, how I miss my MC Hammer cassette.

6/12/15 Dave Grohl Breaks Leg
My music hero Dave Grohl is just as clumsy and uncoordinated as I am :) During a show in Sweden he thought there was stage where there was no stage and fell to the ground, breaking his leg. But, like a boss Dave continued to play the show, with medic at his side. Dave Grohl, you sir, are the man.

6/16/15 Donald Trump Announces Presidential Run
...and pisses off Neil Young because he used his song "Rockin' in the Free World". Who would want their song used by Donald Trump? Maybe this song would be more fitting for him to use.

6/21/15 Sound Engineers are grumpy violent people
According to the links below sound engineers are grumpy people that pull guns on their colleagues. I do not condone violence but I have picked up a mic stand with ill intent - which I repented for! There is a lack of respect and professional courtesy sometimes - in every profession. For the touring engineer; If you don't want to get shot, don't piss of the house engineer.
