Analog Please!

I love the functionality and compact design of digital consoles. But sometimes I just want a freaking analog console. I don't want to switch scenes, I don't want to change layers, I just want to mix what ever I'm doing without fancy motorized faders and programmable rotary knobs. I want "ins" and "outs" in one place sometimes!

Presonus 24.4.2 - that is a mighty fine piece of equipment above. The Fat Channel = ingenious idea. But I don't want to select stuff all the time, I just want to look and see each channel's sends and eq settings. With obesity the way it is in this country I don't mind moving down to the other end of a console to make adjustments.

Midas! 500lbs and 7 feet of awesome. Look at all the buttons! Analog equipment will never be obsolete and engineers who use them will always have a place in the market if they can use both analog and digital.

What caused this rant? Using a digital mixer with a telephone hybrid. Having to control the inputs of the phone line, conference mics and the separate outputs to each would have been less hassle than having to setup a digital mixer. Plus having to record everything was another aspect. Brain farts are common for sound engineers so the more I can see when I look at a console the better. Analog equipment serves more purposes than just audio needs. Lifting analog equipment gives you a workout. For really heavy equipment you get to depend on your co-workers to help you which builds camaraderie. They are larger which gives you a chance to stretch which is good for your joints. In conclusion, analog is good for your health!

Cheers!
